Biotechnology is the interdisciplinary field of technology and biology. It uses living organisms or their processes to create novel solutions in many other fields. When we think about biotechnology, we usually associate it with the "red" biotech, which focuses on pharmaceuticals and medicine. However, there are many different fields of biotech that affect different industries. For example, an example of blue biotech would be lab grown meat, culturing animal cells for human consumption.
